Two options. There are actually a few different Edward Jones Credit Cards, and not all of them have their own applications. More specifically, you can apply for the Edward Jones World Plus Mastercard and the Edward Jones World Mastercard independently of one another. But if you don't get approved, you’ll be automatically considered for the Edward Jones Platinum Mastercard, whose rewards aren't as good. Just keep that in mind.

Decent ongoing rewards. Depending on which version of the Edward Jones Credit Card you get approved for, you'll earn either 1 point per $1 on all purchases (Platinum) or 1.5 points per $1 on the first $20,000 that you spend each year and 2 points per $1 thereafter (World and World Plus). That works out to 1% to 2% cash back, considering that Edward Jones rewards points are worth a penny apiece on average. The high end of that range compares favorably to the 1.07% average for a rewards card, but the best rewards cards offer 2%+ on all purchases and sweeten the deal with a hefty initial bonus. Neither the Edward Jones World Plus Card nor the Platinum version offers an initial bonus, so they can't be considered elite.

No annual fee. The average credit card charges $19.49 per year, So all else being equal, the fact that the Edward Jones Credit Card doesn't charge an annual fee is definitely a good thing. But paying an annual fee can make sense if it gets you better rewards, as is the case with many of the market's best cards. That’s important to keep in mind as you compare options.

Excellent credit required. The Edward Jones Credit Card is up against some very stiff competition, given its excellent-credit approval requirement.

Above-average APR. The average credit card for someone with excellent credit has a regular APR of 13.03%. So you're guaranteed to overpay if you carry a balance from month to month with the Edward Jones Card. And you could end up paying more than twice as much as necessary.
